Ipswich is well-connected by rail. Direct trains from London Liverpool Street run every 30 minutes and take about an hour (the faster services stop at Stratford and Chelmsford only). Trains to Norwich take about 45 minutes. The station is a 10-minute walk from the town centre.
By road, the A12 connects Ipswich to London (about 1h 30m in light traffic, significantly more at peak times) and to the rest of the Suffolk coast. The A14 runs west to Cambridge and the Midlands.
There is no airport. The nearest significant airports are London Stansted (about an hour by road) and London Heathrow (about 1h 45m). Norwich Airport is 45 minutes north.
