When to Go

Ipswich is a year-round destination, though the weather is most reliably good from May to September. East Anglia is the driest part of England and gets more sunshine than you might expect. Summer is the best time to enjoy the Waterfront and the Suffolk countryside.

The football season (August to May) brings a different kind of energy when Ipswich Town are at home — the club is a serious passion in the town and match days transform the atmosphere around Portman Road. Ipswich Town play in the Premier League as of 2024-25, bringing bigger crowds and a livelier atmosphere.

The Latitude Festival (July) takes place at Henham Park, about 50 km north near Southwold, and draws people to the area. Book accommodation well ahead if visiting that weekend.
