Ipswich's highlights are spread across the town but none are far from each other. The Waterfront quarter has been transformed from a derelict dockland into the city's most lively area. The medieval street plan survives intact in the centre, though most original buildings were lost to later development. The two standouts — Christchurch Mansion and the dozen medieval churches — are free to visit and genuinely worth your time.
