The old city centre is compact and best explored on foot. The castle, cathedral, market, and most medieval churches are within a 10-minute walk of one another. The Norwich Lanes fill the area between them.
Buses serve the wider city; the main bus station is near the castle. Taxis are readily available. Cycling is possible on the flat city centre streets, though the network is patchy compared to cities that have invested more in it.
Norwich train station is about 10 minutes' walk from the city centre, or a short taxi ride.
