Norwich Guildhall is a large flint building at the top of the market that served as the city's seat of government from the early 15th century until 1938. It is one of the largest and finest medieval civic buildings in England outside London, and its dark flint exterior, banded with freestone, is characteristic of Norfolk building tradition.
The building is now used as a tourist information centre and for civic events. The interior retains a council chamber with an original 15th-century hammerbeam roof. Worth stepping inside if it's open; entry is free.
