Keswick is a walking town and drinks accordingly: real ale in the early evening, a quiet bottle of wine over dinner, a coffee in the morning to fuel the day's fell. The brewery in town is the Keswick Brewing Company, whose Thirst Pitch and Thirst Run are on most local taps. Several pubs also pour beers from the Hesket Newmarket and Cumberland Ales breweries nearby.
For coffee, the independents along the side streets have largely seen off the chains. For a proper drink in front of a fire, almost any of the central pubs will do.
