A complex of Grade I listed dock buildings from 1846, beautifully restored and now home to museums, restaurants, bars and shops. The dock was the first structure in Britain built entirely from cast iron, brick and stone -- no structural wood at all, which made it fireproof. It houses both the Tate Liverpool and The Beatles Story, and the surrounding quayside is one of the most pleasant spots in the city for a walk.
