A long, sloping pedestrianised street running up from Hanover Street to the bombed-out shell of St Luke's Church at the top. Bold Street is the heart of independent Liverpool — vintage clothing, record shops, second-hand bookshops, plant shops, third-wave coffee, and a remarkable concentration of small restaurants from all corners of the world.
The Bombed-Out Church at the top end (St Luke's, gutted in the 1941 May Blitz and left as a permanent memorial) is now an open-air event space. The street has resisted the homogenisation that has hit so many British high streets, and remains the best place in Liverpool to spend an afternoon wandering.
