Princes Road Synagogue is one of Liverpool's architectural surprises: a richly decorated Victorian synagogue in the Princes Park area, with Moorish Revival details, stained glass, marble, gilding, and a scale that reflects the confidence of the city's nineteenth-century Jewish community.
It is not a drop-in tourist church, so visits usually need to fit around tours, events, or arranged access. When you can get inside, it is worth the effort; the interior belongs with Liverpool's great civic and religious rooms.
