Oxford's food scene has improved considerably from its old reputation for mediocre pub grub. The city centre has the usual chain restaurants, but the most interesting options are in Jericho and along Cowley Road, where a dense concentration of independent restaurants reflects the university's international student body. Traditional English pub food is still widely available and still good value.
