Getting Around

Oxford's city centre is compact and the best way to see it is on foot. The colleges, museums, shops and restaurants are all concentrated in a walkable area, and many streets are pedestrianised.

The Oxford Bus Company operates routes throughout the city. The most useful for visitors is the number 2, which runs from the city centre up Banbury Road to Summertown. Buses run frequently and you can pay with contactless.

Cycling is very popular in Oxford, and there are bike hire options available. The city is flat and most roads have cycle lanes, though the traffic in the centre can be busy.

If you need a taxi, several firms operate in the city. Taxis can be hailed at ranks around the city centre or booked by phone.
