Newton Abbot Racecourse is a country National Hunt course on the edge of town, running about twenty fixtures a year — mostly summer evening meetings. It is one of the smaller and friendlier courses in the South West, with a real local-track atmosphere and a tight, undulating layout that produces unpredictable racing.
A meeting here is a low-key way to spend an afternoon. Tickets are inexpensive, food and drink in the enclosures are reasonable, and you can be at the rails close to the horses. The course is a fifteen-minute walk from the town centre along the racecourse road, or there is parking on site.
