St Mary's Church

Medieval collegiate church with a gilded Beauchamp tomb considered England's finest bronze effigy

The collegiate church of St Mary sits at the top of Church Street and is hard to miss — its tower is visible from much of the town. Inside, the Beauchamp Chapel is the real prize: a 15th-century chantry containing the gilded tomb of Richard Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick, who died in 1439. The effigy is considered one of the finest examples of late medieval bronze casting in England. The crypt and chapter house are also open to visitors. Entry to the church is free, though a donation is requested.
