Karachi Restaurant

The Karachi has been running on Neal Street since 1965 and is the longest-established Pakistani restaurant in Bradford — a no-frills cafe with plastic chairs, vinyl tablecloths and laminated menus, serving the kind of bone-in lamb karahi and dal that locals have eaten for half a century. The kitchen is open; the chefs work directly behind the counter on a row of cast-iron pans.

A meal of meat, rice and naan costs around £10 a person. No alcohol, but the kitchen tolerates BYO discreetly. Closed Fridays for prayer. A true Bradford institution and a useful counter to the polished Mumtaz on Great Horton Road.
