Eating Out

Bradford has one of the most celebrated South Asian restaurant scenes in Britain. The city's large Pakistani and Indian communities have built a dense, competitive restaurant culture — prices are generally low and quality is high. Manningham Lane and the streets around it are the main concentration, but good curry houses are spread across the city.

The Mumtaz on Great Horton Road is the standout: a step above the average in ambition and execution, it has expanded into a major supplier to retailers across Britain, from Harrods to local co-ops. Not cheap by Bradford standards but still good value. If you eat one meal in Bradford, eat it here.
