One of the great free museums of northern England, the National Science and Media Museum traces the history of photography, film, television, radio, and the web. The IMAX cinema is still one of the largest screens in the country. The museum sits prominently in the city centre on Princes View, and a visit can easily fill a morning or afternoon. Bradford's designation as a UNESCO City of Film in 2009 owes much to this institution.
