Corgarff Castle

Corgarff Castle is a mid-16th-century tower house in the eastern Cairngorms, later adapted as a redcoat barracks after the Jacobite risings. Its whitewashed walls and star-shaped outer enclosure make it one of the more distinctive castles in the area.

The castle stands in open upland country and is reached by a steep track, so sturdy shoes are useful. The reconstructed barracks give the site more context than a simple ruin.
