The Crannog sits on the town pier in a striking red-painted former bait shed, with windows on three sides looking onto Loch Linnhe and the Ardgour hills opposite. It has been serving the best seafood in Fort William for thirty years and is essentially the only place in town the locals will recommend without qualification.
The menu rotates with the catch: hot smoked salmon from their own smokehouse on the pier, langoustines with garlic butter, mussels in cider, hand-dived scallops. The wine list leans white and the staff know what they are doing. Booking is sensible in summer.
