Fort William sits at the foot of Britain's highest mountain, on the only road through one of the most spectacular corners of the Highlands. The town itself is small, but the surrounding area is one continuous attraction — from the climb up Ben Nevis to the steam train across the Glenfinnan Viaduct, from the dripping waterfalls of Glen Nevis to the locks of Neptune's Staircase on the Caledonian Canal. Build a long weekend around it.
