Day Trips

Glen Coe, half an hour south down the A82, is the most obvious day trip — a tragic landscape and the site of the 1692 massacre. Mallaig is two hours west by the Jacobite Steam Train or the ScotRail service, returning to Fort William the same afternoon. Loch Ness and Inverness are an hour north up the A82, passing the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge. The remote Knoydart peninsula is a serious two-day walk in from Kinloch Hourn.
