Fort William is at the western end of the A82 from Glasgow (about two and a half hours by car) and the A86 from the eastern Highlands. The Caledonian Sleeper from London Euston runs through the night and arrives in Fort William at breakfast time — one of the great train journeys in Britain. ScotRail's day train from Glasgow Queen Street takes about four hours along the spectacular West Highland Line, calling at Rannoch Moor and Tyndrum. There is no longer a useful airport closer than Inverness or Glasgow.
