Fyvie's position in central Aberdeenshire makes it a good base for day trips. Aberdeen is 25 miles south (30 minutes), with the Maritime Museum free to visit. South-west, Bennachie is a prominent hill with a marked path to the summit (about 1 hour); the top has Pictish fort remains and views across Aberdeenshire. Archeolink, a prehistoric visitor centre, is on the north side of Bennachie. North, Banff and Macduff are 30 minutes away — Banff has the magnificent Duff House (national art gallery) and a museum; Macduff has a marine aquarium. The Banffshire coast has stretches of golden sand beach and dramatic clifftop walks.
