Mary Queen of Scots House

A 16th-century fortified townhouse where Mary Queen of Scots stayed in 1566 during a journey through the Borders. The building itself — thick stone walls, crow-stepped gables, traditional Borders architecture — is as interesting as the exhibits inside. It is one of the better-preserved examples of its type in the region.

The museum covers Mary's life, her visit to Jedburgh, and the broader story of the Borders during her era. Well-done and rarely crowded, it makes for a clear and manageable hour.
