Clachtoll Broch is an Iron Age tower site on the coast north of Lochinver, with thick stone walls and sea-facing views that make the setting as memorable as the archaeology. It is one of the best small stops for understanding how old settlement sits in the Assynt landscape.
The broch is close to Clachtoll Beach, so it fits naturally into a coastal drive or a beach walk. Take care around uneven stones and exposed edges, and give yourself time to look back toward the mountains as well as down at the ruin.
