Kinnoull Hill is the best short walk from Perth when you want a proper view without turning the day into a mountain outing. Trails climb through mixed woodland to open ground above the Tay, where the river bends east and the farmland of Strathearn spreads out below.
The summit area is made memorable by Kinnoull Tower, a small cliff-edge folly built to look like a Rhine castle. It is theatrical, but the setting earns it: steep wooded slopes, birds moving over the crags, and a panorama that explains Perth's position at the meeting point of river, lowland, and Highland edge.
