Moncreiffe Hill

Woodland hill above Perth with Iron Age forts, sculpture trails, and broad Tay valley views

Moncreiffe Hill is the wooded ridge that rises south of Perth and gives the city one of its easiest half-day escapes. The climb is steep enough to feel earned, but the reward is a mix of Tay valley views, old hill-fort ground, and paths that move between beech, oak, and conifer woodland.

Go for a walk rather than a single viewpoint. The northern Tay car park is the most useful starting point for the sculpture trail and the summit routes, while the southern approach from Bridge of Earn is quieter and sharper. Paths can be muddy after rain, so this is better with proper shoes than with a spare hour in town clothes.
