Getting There

Aberystwyth has a direct train connection to Shrewsbury and Birmingham, via the Cambrian Line — a scenic route through the heart of mid-Wales that takes about two hours from Shrewsbury. From London the journey requires a change at Birmingham New Street and takes four to five hours. Bus services connect the town to Cardigan, Machynlleth, and Aberaeron, among others.

By car, Aberystwyth is about three and a half hours from London via the A44 through Rhayader, or slightly longer via the A487 along the coast from Cardigan. The approach from the east through the Cambrian Mountains is particularly dramatic. There is no motorway within about 50 miles of the town.
