Aberystwyth has a lively cafe and bar culture shaped by its large student population. The town centre concentrates most of the action around Pier Street and the streets running inland from the seafront. In term time the bars fill quickly on weekend evenings; outside term the pace is more relaxed. There are several decent independent cafes suited to lingering over coffee and a book on a rainy afternoon — of which there will be several.
