The Celtic Gateway is a striking modern footbridge that connects the town centre directly to the railway station and the Stena Line ferry terminal across the inner harbour. Opened in 2006, it replaced an inconvenient roundabout-and-subway arrangement that for decades made arriving in Holyhead a confusing affair.
The bridge curves on a single 200-metre span supported by a triangular pylon and stay cables. From the deck there is a fine view over the harbour to the breakwater, and at night the lighting picks out the structure as the most recognisable thing on the Holyhead waterfront.
