The town itself is a working ferry port — the real attractions form a loop around it, from the Roman walls of Caer Gybi in the centre to the seabird cliffs at South Stack, the Iron Age fort on Holyhead Mountain, and the lighthouses that mark the headlands. Pick a clear day and walk between them: most of the best of Holyhead is outside on the coast.
