Beaumaris, on the east coast of Anglesey, is the obvious next stop — Edward I's unfinished masterpiece of a castle, a colourful seafront, and views across the Menai Strait to Snowdonia. Holyhead itself is also the closest jumping-off point for a day trip to Dublin: foot passengers can leave Holyhead on the morning fast ferry and be back the same evening.
