Tilloo Cay National Reserve protects the uninhabited cay and surrounding waters south of Elbow Cay. The reserve was established to protect nesting seabirds and a healthy reef system on the Atlantic side. White-tailed tropicbirds nest on the rocky cliffs of the eastern shore; the sight of these long-tailed, elegant birds in flight over turquoise water is one of the more striking wildlife moments available in the Abacos.
Tilloo Cut — the deep-water channel between Tilloo Cay and the next cay south — is a reliable spot for larger pelagic fish and is popular with anglers fishing from anchored boats in the current. The cay itself is off limits to prevent disturbance to nesting birds, but the surrounding water is open. Access is by private boat only.
