Bimini's bars have a long and disreputable history — Prohibition-era rum-runners, Hemingway brawls, deep-sea fishing crews coming in for the evening. The scene is concentrated in Alice Town along King's Highway, with a few low-key beach bars on Radio Beach for sunset. Bacardi and Kalik (the Bahamian lager) are everywhere; the Bimini Bread rum cake, often baked into desserts, is the local sweet specialty.
