Bimini is the closest part of the Bahamas to the United States and the easiest to reach. The fastest option is the high-speed FRS Caribbean ferry from Fort Lauderdale to Alice Town — about two and a half hours direct, with daily departures most of the year. The other regular option is to fly: Tropic Ocean Airways runs seaplanes from Fort Lauderdale to North Bimini Harbour, and Silver Airways and Western Air operate to South Bimini Airport (BIM) from Fort Lauderdale and Nassau respectively. Flight times are around 30 to 45 minutes.
Many visitors come by private boat from Florida — the crossing from Miami can be done in three hours in calm weather, but the Gulf Stream is unforgiving and only suitable for experienced sailors. Customs and immigration clear at Bimini Big Game Club marina or at the government dock in Alice Town.
