Getting There

By air. Grantley Adams International Airport is 16 kilometres east of Bridgetown, about 30 minutes by taxi in normal traffic. Direct flights connect Barbados to London, New York, Toronto, Miami, and several other Caribbean islands. The taxi fare to the city is fixed and should be agreed before departure; expect to pay around BBD 55–70 (USD 27–35). Shared ZR minibuses also run from the airport area to Bridgetown but require a change at Fairchild Street terminal and are not convenient with luggage.

By sea. Bridgetown Harbour, a kilometre west of the historic centre, is one of the main cruise ports in the eastern Caribbean. Major cruise lines call here regularly; passengers are deposited close enough to the historic centre to walk in ten minutes.

Inter-island. LIAT and interCaribbean Airways connect Bridgetown to other islands in the Eastern Caribbean. The small regional airlines are notoriously unreliable on schedules; build in plenty of time for connections.
