Shopping

Broad Street is the duty-free centre of Bridgetown, catering primarily to cruise passengers with shops selling watches, jewellery, perfume, rum, and electronics. Prices are competitive for luxury goods and liquor, but the atmosphere is purely transactional. If you are buying rum to take home, the airport duty-free is equally convenient and you avoid carrying it around all day.

For something more interesting, Swan Street is the local shopping street running parallel to Broad Street — stalls selling fabric, local snacks, phone accessories, and Bajan-made clothing. The Temple Yard area off Swan Street is a small Rastafarian craft market with woodwork, paintings, and jewellery. Cheapside Market is the place for fresh local produce, spices, and sorrel. Most Bajan-made crafts and food products — hot pepper sauces, rum cakes, locally woven baskets — are available throughout the historic centre.
