When to Go

The high season is December through April — warm, sunny, dry, and the busiest months for sailing and cruise visits. Prices for accommodation and yacht charters peak around Christmas, New Year, and Easter; book well ahead.

The shoulder months of May, June, and November are excellent value, with prices dropping and the weather still mostly fine. Hurricane season officially runs from June through November, with peak risk in August and September. Tortola was hit hard by Hurricane Irma in September 2017 and the territory has been rebuilding since; check current conditions before booking in late summer.

The annual BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival in late March/early April is the territory's biggest event, drawing yachts and crews from across the world to Road Town and Nanny Cay. The August Emancipation Festival in Road Town marks the abolition of slavery with a week of parades, music, and food.
