For practical day-trip planning, Diving and snorkelling are excellent across the BVI: wrecks (most famously the RMS Rhone, off nearby Salt Island), shallow reefs, and dozens of anchorages along the Sir Francis Drake Channel. Day boats from Road Town and West End run snorkel and dive trips to Norman Island, the Caves, The Indians, and The Baths on Virgin Gorda — Tortola is the natural base for all of them.
