Bragg Creek sits where Calgary's western edge gives way to ranch country, spruce woods, and the first serious folds of the Rockies foothills. It is small, but it has a clear job: an easy day out for Calgarians and a softer entry to Kananaskis Country than Banff's busy main corridor.
The hamlet itself has cafes, galleries, and outfitters, but the day is really made by the outdoors around it. Bragg Creek Provincial Park gives you the Elbow River close to town, West Bragg Creek Trails supplies the year-round trail network, and Elbow Falls is the obvious scenic stop farther along Highway 66.
This is a useful World66 location because it works as a real spare-day choice from Calgary. Come for a walk, a waterfall, and a meal in the hamlet, not for a checklist of museums.
