Sun Peaks is a purpose-built mountain resort village northeast of Kamloops, and it earns its page because the mountain is the place. The village is small and polished, but it is wrapped around serious outdoor terrain: three ski mountains in winter, lift-access biking in summer, and alpine trails when the snow pulls back.
In winter, Sun Peaks Resort is the draw, with one of Canada's largest ski areas spread across Tod, Sundance, and Morrisey. In summer, the bike park and Tod Mountain trails give the village a second season that feels more active than most ski resorts after thaw.
This is not a historic town, and travellers who dislike resort villages will not suddenly be converted. But if you are in the Kamloops area with a spare day and want mountain air, lift access, and easy logistics, Sun Peaks is a real destination rather than just a place to sleep.
