Ucluelet sits on the west coast of Vancouver Island, south of Tofino and close to Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. It has less of Tofino's surf-town shine, but that is part of the point: Ucluelet feels more like a working harbour that learned to welcome storm watchers, hikers, kayakers, and people who like rain gear.
The town's best moments are outside. The Wild Pacific Trail loops around headlands near Amphitrite Point Lighthouse, with views of waves hitting black rock and the Broken Group Islands offshore. Small beaches, whale-watching boats, and the Ucluelet Aquarium fill in the rest.
Weather is not a footnote here. Summers are cool and often foggy, while winter storms are part of the attraction. Pack for wet conditions even if the forecast looks kind.
