Vernon is a four-hour drive from Vancouver via the Coquihalla Highway (Hwy 5) and Hwy 97 north from Kamloops, or via the Trans-Canada and Hwy 97 through the Fraser Canyon — the latter is more scenic but slower. From Kelowna to the south, Vernon is 50 km, about 45 minutes on Hwy 97.
Vernon Regional Airport (YVE) has scheduled service to Vancouver with Pacific Coastal Airlines. Kelowna International Airport (YLW), 60 km south, handles more airlines and more routes, including direct flights from Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto. Most visitors arriving by air land in Kelowna and drive or take the bus north.
Greyhound Canada no longer serves the Okanagan, but BC Transit provides regional bus connections between Kelowna, Vernon, and Penticton.
