Vernon sits amid three lakes — Okanagan, Kalamalka, and Swan — and makes the most of all of them. The lakes are the backbone of summer life here, while Silver Star Mountain Resort and the surrounding trails define the winter and shoulder seasons. Downtown along 30th Avenue is small enough to walk in half an hour but has enough independent restaurants and breweries to fill an evening well.
