Vernon has a small but genuine craft beer scene, with a couple of good brewpubs operating out of the downtown. Coffee culture is well-established — several independent cafes along 30th Avenue and the surrounding streets do good work. Evenings are fairly quiet by city standards; this is a town that functions better as a morning-to-afternoon destination.
