The Academy Theatre on Lindsay Street is one of the oldest working theatres in Ontario — built in 1893 as the Lindsay Opera House and operating continuously since. The interior keeps its 19th-century proscenium stage, painted plaster ceiling, and a 530-seat auditorium that is small enough to feel intimate.
The programme runs from September to May and mixes community drama, touring musicals, and an active live music series. Tickets are affordable and worth grabbing in advance — the room is small enough that bad seats don't really exist.
