Pigeon Lake is the largest of the inner Kawartha lakes, a long ragged S-shape running 36 kilometres north from the village of Omemee to Bobcaygeon. It is the busiest cottage lake in the region, with shoreline densely lined with summer houses, marinas, and a handful of small resorts.
For visitors without a cottage, access is best from Bobcaygeon — the main boat-launch and rental dock are by Lock 32 — or from one of the day-use parks along the shore. The fishing is good (walleye, bass, muskellunge), the water is warm by July, and the long flat reaches are forgiving for first-time paddlers.
