Grand Theatre

1901 Edwardian theatre with a hand-painted proscenium arch

Address 471 Richmond Street

A working professional theatre opened in 1901 with one of the last surviving original proscenium arches in Canada — Frederick Challener's painted allegory across the top of the stage is the building's signature feature. The main season runs September through May with a mix of contemporary Canadian work and classics; the smaller Auburn studio space upstairs handles edgier productions.
