The city's combined art and history museum, in a modernist concrete building from 1980 perched at the forks of the Thames River where French explorers first mapped what they called La Tranche. The collection is strong on Canadian regional painting — Greg Curnoe, Jack Chambers and the London Regionalist movement of the 1960s are well represented — alongside permanent galleries on the city's industrial and First Nations history.
Free admission. Worth an hour or two; combine with a walk down Ridout Street's row of restored nineteenth-century houses.
