Chippawa Battlefield Park marks one of the major War of 1812 clashes on the Niagara frontier. Today it is a broad, quiet green space rather than a dense museum site, with interpretive material that helps place the battle in the long contest for the border.
It is best for travellers already interested in history, or for anyone driving south from the falls toward the Niagara River Parkway. The contrast is part of the appeal: after Clifton Hill's noise and the roar of Horseshoe Falls, the battlefield feels almost startlingly still.
