The CN Tower rises 553 metres above downtown Toronto, impossible to miss from just about anywhere in the city. For decades it held the title of world's tallest free-standing structure, and it remains Toronto's most recognizable landmark.
Head up to the observation deck for views that stretch across Lake Ontario on a clear day. The real thrill is the glass floor near the top — a 24-square-metre panel that lets you look straight down to the streets below. It's genuinely unnerving the first time you step onto it.
